On December 17, Distinguished Professor Caroline Homer(The University of Sydney Technology) visited the University of Tokyo and gave a special GNRC seminar, titled "The process of making The Lancet series on Midwifery: what next for collaborative international research?″ Professor Homer was the only Australian author in The Lancet's Series on Midwifery in 2014. She shared how quality maternal and newborn care reduced maternal mortality and stillbirths and neonatal deaths, how we get more midwives, how we get better models of care, and what research needs to be done.
