Global Nursing Research Center Conference 2021

Global Nursing Research Center, of the University of Tokyo, has received funding for five years since its establishment in 2017 and is now entering in its final year. From 2021, GNRC will become a permanent institute within the University of Tokyo and resume its research activities. Therefore, we have planned the following lectures to look back on our activities so far and to promote research and education for young nursing researchers who can play an active role on the global stage.

2. Program Overview

1) Past, Present and Future of the Global Nursing Research Center: Hiromi Sanada (Director)
2) Introduction of care innovation and nursing systems divisions: Representative of each division
3) Special Lecture entitled "Building Resilience in Nursing for the Future": Prof. Ardith Doorenbos (University of Illinois in Chicago)
4) The Future of GNRC and Nursing at the University of Tokyo: Vision of nursing in Japan and globally: Noriko Yamamoto (Vice Director)

Purpose of each division will be introduced, and laboratory settings will be shown by virtual reality. We will also report part of the research findings of each division.
A special lecture will be delivered by Professor Ardith Doorenbos who has been appointed as a Specially Appointed Professor since October 2020, titled "Building Nursing Resilience for the Future." The year 2020 marks the 200th anniversary of Nightingale's birth, the year of nurses and midwives, and the year when the world was challenged by the Covid-19 pandemic. Looking back on 2020, this was a year with great significance as many people were involved in nursing and highlighted the importance of nursing research, nurturing resilience and how to achieve our goals.
Presentations and lectures will be in English with Japanese-English subtitles.
